Torque Tools For Precision Tightening - ToolsRUs
For nuts, bolts or other fasteners that require a very precise amount of turning force, torque tools are what's needed. When pushing or pulling on something, you are applying force to it. Torque is similar, except it is forced exerted by twisting. Certain nuts on bolts require the proper tension and load in order to be most effective. The reason is, too much rotational pressure can cause the bolt to warp or break which could severely damage the machine or cause an internal chamber to depressurize.

To prevent the overtightening of a bolt or nut, torque tools are necessary to achieve the correct amount of pressure so no damage is caused. On a car, a torque wrench is used for things like tightening lug nuts or the flywheel nut. Designed to gauge pressure that lets you know when to stop turning, torque wrenches prevent you from overtightening a bolt or nut and stripping or breaking it. The foot pound is the measurement unit of torque. Check out a car’s manual, and for certain components, you will see detailed specifications for various nuts and bolts. With these specs, a mechanic knows the precise load required of each nut and bolt.
Common types include beam, dial, click and electronic wrenches. Beam wrenches feature two bars. The primary bar is what does the turning, while an indicator bar does not administer any load. You know the precise amount of torque has been reached once the indicator bar points to the appropriate mark on the attached calibrated scale. Except for featuring a dial indicator rather than a bar, dial wrenches do the same thing. A high-tech alternative is an electronic torque wrench which features an LED readout to indicate load. Click torque wrenches are another option. With its calibrated internal mechanism, this wrench slips and clicks aloud, letting you know when you've reached the right amount of torque.
Other types of torque tools include analyzers or sensors that can test the amount of torque or load on a fastener, torque screwdrivers, power assembly tools, multipliers and related accessories. Similar to wrenches, torque screwdrivers allow you to apply the precise amount of turning force on smaller fasteners. Electric or pneumatic power tools allow for precision, uniform tightening that is quick and efficient.
what shop can i buy a thread repair kit?
i am having trouble with my cylinder head gasket and the threads are worn in the gasket,so i am looking to replace the threads,any ideas where i can either buy a thread or a thread repair kit

It is not clear to me exactly which threads are damaged.
There will not be threads worn in the cylinder head gasket.
Every time you remove the cylinder head you should replace the old cylinder head gasket with a new cylinder head gasket.
If the threads are damaged inside of the block, that is a job that will require a machine shop. That is a job that most people are not able to do successfully on their own
If the threads on the cylinder head bolts are damaged I recommend that you buy a set of new cylinder head bolts from the dealer for that make of car, and replace all of the cylinder head bolts, not just the one that is damaged.
If it is the spark plug threads that are damaged, I recommend that you take the cylinder head to a machine shop and have the machine shop repair the problem for you.
Although they do sell kits to repair damaged spark plug threads, those kits often do not work very well. I would have a machine shop make that repair.
